Counterr ("Counterr," "we," "us," or "our") is an AI-powered document analysis service that helps individuals understand and negotiate job offers, employment contracts, and severance agreements. Our website is located at counterr.ai.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

Name and email address — collected when you submit a document for analysis.
Document content — the text of your job offer, employment contract, or severance agreement, which you paste or upload. This content may include your name, employer's name, compensation details, and other sensitive employment information.
Document type — whether you're submitting a job offer, employment contract, or severance agreement.
Payment information — if you unlock a paid report, your payment is processed by Stripe. Counterr does not store your credit card number, billing address, or other payment credentials. Stripe's privacy policy governs how payment data is handled.

Information collected automatically

Server logs — our hosting provider (Vercel) may log IP addresses, browser type, referring URLs, and request timestamps in the normal course of operating our infrastructure.
Session data — we use a report access token (a random unique ID) to deliver your report to you via a secure link. This token is not a tracking cookie.

We do not use advertising trackers, third-party analytics scripts, or behavioral tracking cookies.

3. How We Use Your Information

To generate your AI-powered analysis and route your submission to an expert reviewer.
To deliver your completed report to you via email.
To process your payment if you unlock a paid report.
To send transactional emails (submission confirmation, report delivery). We do not send marketing emails unless you opt in.
To respond to questions or support requests you send us.
To detect and prevent fraud or abuse.

4. Who We Share Your Information With

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only in these limited circumstances:

Expert reviewers

Your document and the AI-generated draft analysis are reviewed by a human expert before delivery. These reviewers are bound by confidentiality obligations and may only use your information to review and refine your report.

Technology service providers

Supabase — our database and storage provider. Your submission data (name, email, document content, and analysis results) is stored in Supabase. Data is stored in the United States.
Stripe — our payment processor. Stripe handles all payment transactions. We receive a payment confirmation but do not receive or store your card details. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
Resend — our transactional email provider. Your name and email address are shared with Resend for the purpose of delivering confirmation and report emails. See Resend's Privacy Policy.
Vercel — our hosting and infrastructure provider. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.

Legal requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, subpoena, or court order, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Counterr, our users, or the public.

5. Data Retention

We retain your submission data (name, email, document content, and report) for as long as necessary to provide the service and for a reasonable period afterward for support and record-keeping purposes. If you request deletion of your data, we will remove it from our active systems within 30 days, subject to any legal retention obligations.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate information.
Delete your submission data and personal information.
Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.

7. California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

Right to Know — you can request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
Right to Delete — you can request that we delete personal information we have collected from you.
Right to Non-Discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.
Right to Opt Out of Sale — we do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.

8. Children's Privacy

Counterr is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. All data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored in encrypted databases. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Cookies

Counterr does not use advertising cookies or behavioral tracking cookies. We use only the essential technical mechanisms necessary to deliver the service — specifically, the report access token included in your delivery email. No cookie consent banner is required because we do not set non-essential cookies.

11. Third-Party Links

Our site may contain links to third-party websites (such as Stripe's payment portal). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will note the updated date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you (for example, by email if you have an active submission on file). Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
